Bernard Chia, Managing Director
Bernie is a satay-loving digital prodigy who started developing dynamic websites at the tender age of 14. Today, one degree in engineering (majoring in information technology) and 16 years of web design and development industry experience later, he is the strategic heart of Alyka.
Following several years working for various web design and development agencies, Bernie got tired of seeing how clients were poorly treated and serviced, so he decided to do something about it. He set up Alyka in Subiaco with an online marketing mission to do the right thing by clients – to act with integrity; to be open, honest and transparent; and to take a personal, one-on-one approach that ensures everything is as straightforward, easy and fun as possible.

Douglas Lim, Director of All Things Web
Basketball aficionado, charity volunteer and Dockers fan Doug started using the Internet back in 1994 (the good old Netscape Navigator days), when he discovered HTML and began his web design and development journey. He even developed games using Turbo Pascal in 1994.
After studying software engineering at uni (first class honours, no less), Doug worked as a software developer, software tester, solutions architect and web developer. He now knows more than is necessarily healthy about everything from ASP .NET web applications to Flash, and he loves pushing the technological boundaries. But ultimately, his passion lies in developing online marketing solutions – solutions that make people happy.

Zion Ong, Director of All Things Online
Completing our trio of web design and development directors, Zion is very much the face (or should that be voice) of Alyka. Drawing on his extensive commercial and corporate account management experience, he’s the go-to guy for new and established clients alike, with an uncanny ability to make even the most complex geekery easy to understand.
Armed with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UWA, Zion began his client-facing career with one of Australia’s major banks, managing a host of commercial clients before establishing Alyka with Bernie and Doug in 2006. Today, his technical knowledge is equal to his account handling expertise, having worked with clients spanning a diverse range of industries.

Michelle Kember, Director of All Things Government
Michelle is our resident ‘Jill of all Trades’, and everyone who knows her say, ‘Master of Many’ (although she gets very bashful if you say that to her). Michelle’s passion is in useability, accessibility, and ultimately the usefulness of a website. She is more interested in the ‘meat’ of the site than anything else.
Michelle’s main area of expertise is in managing and implementing large-scale web development and optimisation projects for local and State Government. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, Michelle’s expertise has been called upon to review and improve some of the biggest government websites in Western Australia, including the Department of Transport, Department of Mines and Petroleum, Department of Commerce, Tourism WA, and the Department of Planning.
Just some of the areas Michelle can help you with include project management, useability testing, consultation, accessibility audits, content audits and strategies, information architecture, PDF optimisation (useability and accessibility), content editing/writing, content migration, style guide development, web management strategies, and web editor training.

David Birrell, Web Project Manager for Government Projects
When he’s not paddling into the waves of the South West and scaring sharks, David is surfing the web researching the latest online technologies, ready to ride the next big online wave with clients.
And when he’s not paddling or surfing? David’s on the front line here at Alyka, translating techspeak into English for clients and delivering large-scale web projects for State and local government clients.
We’re talking big, complex projects, from huge public-facing websites to customised intranets to information architecture overhauls... the kind of stuff that gives most people a migraine, well that’s the stuff that gives David a buzz.

Louise Bertoncini, Web Project Manager
Louise began her career as a television editor. That’s right, in TV! So how does a TV editor working in the UK for Channel 4 become one of Perth’s most formidable, multi-tasking web project managers?
Well, apart from the 15,000 kilometre trip home to Perth, it’s not as big a leap as you might imagine.
When Louise wasn’t doing cool stuff like interviewing her directing hero Michel Gondry for the film review programme Movie Rush, she was managing schedules and new broadcast technologies and generally organising everything to hit the kind of deadlines that would give most of us a panic attack.
In other words, the perfect grounding to become the perfect web project manager at Alyka, where she’s still doing all sorts of cool stuff, but now she’s doing it channelling her passion for all things digital, from website development projects to online marketing and social media campaigns.

Aimee Ellard, Web Project Manager
Aimee loves lots of things – going shopping, hitting the beach, going shopping, travelling, going shopping and telling jokes (lame ones usually). And every so often, she goes shopping.
However, there’s more to Aimee than single-handedly propping up WA’s retail sector. She’s an equally prodigious web project manager, drawing on her extensive advertising and marketing management experience to help our clients fulfil their business and brand potential online.
Armed with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in marketing and advertising) and a broad range of campaign management experience, she’s an expert when it comes to creating and executing multi-channel online marketing strategies. And she’s constantly consuming all the latest developments in the online marketing world – always the consummate consumer.
