The key to successful marketing is to obtain as many clients and subscribers as possible and then develop a strong relationship with them. One of the most common forms of email marketing is sending out regular newsletters to clients by email. These can be newsletters about new product releases, discount sales promotions or anything else that may be of interest to your audience. In order for this strategy to be effective, the newsletter must be structured well. Here are a few tips:
Make the subject line exciting
The first thing a client sees in an email should be the subject heading. The subject heading should hint at the content of the email and make the reader curious enough to open it.
Write to the person
People don’t like reading advertisements that are impersonal. Make the email personal, as if you’re talking directly to your client. However, it’s important that you don’t go overboard and become overly familiar. Keep a healthy balance.
Keep it simple
Too many graphics, graphs, figures or convoluted text will make your email look like spam. This is a sure way to turn the reader off your message. Keep it simple.
Use bullet points
Try not to use too many paragraphs. Email users usually scan their emails and paragraphs are extremely difficult to scan. Bullet points are great for scanning and will allow the reader to capture the key points. However, don’t use bullet points for everything as this will make the email look impersonal.
Place links at the start, middle and end
These are usually the areas that are read most, so remember to put your key links in these areas. The hit rate for your links will improve.
Use pictures for your products
People always want to see what they are buying. This even applies to non-tangible products or services such as financial advice. Instead of just text, create a nice graphic that presents the financial advice in a visually stimulating way.
Use special offers and bonuses
Make a special offer or perhaps give something away for free to your clients. It could be a free software program, subscription or magazine. People are always drawn to free or special deals. However don’t use the word “free” too often in your email. If you do, your message will look like spam and the email may be blocked by spam filters.
Provide your contact information
Wherever possible, provide your web address, email address, phone number and even postal address. Make it easy for your clients to contact you.
